dc.description.abstractThe synthesis of an alkyl-aryl prepolymer by a modified Friedel-Crafts alkylation is reported in the study. The influence of the concentration of the reactants on the physical properties and structure of the prepolymer and on the kinetics of polymerization is studied. Prepolymer characterization is done by Infrared Spectroscopy, Light Scattering and Differential Scanning Calorimetry. An aromatic substitution mechanism and a molecular structure of the prepolymer are proposed.
