dc.descriptionThe phenomenon of American children living in Mexico, particularly in the State of Mexico, is not new. Their number has been registered since 2000, increasing notably as a result of the escalating return migration at the national level that affects the state level. By 2015 there is a decrease in the amount, however, those who arrived in 2010 are still present in the country. Being underage, these children have the right to access the school system in the State of Mexico. How is that process? Previous investigations have detected administrative, cultural, economic, and educational barriers, among others, in the process of incorporation and integration of children from the United States at school. For this reason, this article proposes to identify and socio-demographically characterize the underage US population living in the State of Mexico, emphasizing the analysis of school attendance and academic performance, which translates into detecting access and permanence in the State Educational System. The methodological strategy is of a quantitative nature, based on the processing and analysis of the xii General Census of Population and Housing 2000, of the Population and Housing Census 2010 and of the Intercensal Survey 2015, by the National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Informatics. en-US
dc.descriptionEl fenómeno de niños estadounidenses viviendo en México, en parti- cular en el Estado de México, no es nuevo. Desde el año 2000 se registra población menor de edad nacida en Estados Unidos residiendo en el estado. Es en 2010 cuando el número se incrementa notablemente como producto del incremento de la migración de retorno a nivel nacional que repercute a nivel estatal. Para 2015 se produce una disminución en el monto, sin embargo, los que llegaron en 2010 siguen presentes en el país. Al ser población en edad escolar tienen el derecho de acceder al sistema escolar nacional, en específico al sistema escolar en el Estado de México. ¿Cómo es ese proceso? Investigaciones previas han detectado barreras administrativas, culturales, económicas, educativas, entre otras, en el proceso de incorporación e integración escolar de niños provenientes de Estados Unidos. Por ello, este artículo propone identificar y caracterizar sociodemográficamente a la población estadounidense menor de edad que vive en el Estado de Mé- xico, haciendo énfasis en el análisis de la asistencia y avance escolar de esta población que se traduce en detectar el acceso y permanencia en el Sistema Educativo Estatal. La estrategia metodológica es de orden cuantitativo y estará soportada en el manejo y análisis del xii Censo General de Población y Vivienda 2000, del Censo de Población y Vivienda 2010 y de la Encuesta Intercensal 2015, todas del Instituto Nacional de Estadística, Geografía e Informática (inegi). es-ES
