Resumen
El Hierro Island Global Geopark: Diversity of Volcanic Heritage for Geotourism allows readers a structured approach starting from
the geological origin of the island, up to the implementation of the UNESCO Global Geopark category. In its initial chapters, the
book takes the reader on a journey through the terminology of geopatrimony, geodiversity, geoconservation, geoculture, and geoparks. Subsequently, the authors present the state of the art of volcanic geopatrimony, the island's geological context, demographic evolution, economic activities, and cultural elements, which form the basis for evaluating the diversity of geosites and
the designation of management categories for territory management.
