Propuesta para implementar la iniciativa carta de la Tierra en la enseñanza de las ciencias en tercer ciclo de la Educación General Básica

Abstract

Esta investigación tuvo como propósito diseñar estrategias metodológicas basadas en los principios de carta de la Tierra, con el fin de fomentar la práctica de valores y principios del desarrollo sostenible, en estudiantes del Tercer Ciclo de la Educación General Básica, del Colegio Nocturno Sinaí del circuito 01 de la Región Educativa de Pérez Zeledón. La investigación se basó en el paradigma naturalista y empleó el enfoque cualitativo. La literatura consultada muestra temas afines a la Carta de la Tierra, como la política educativa del siglo XXI, formación en valores, educación ambiental, educación y desarrollo sostenible, filosofía, contenido y uso de Carta de la Tierra en educación. Para la recopilación de la información se aplicaron instrumentos a los sujetos en estudio y se utilizaron herramientas cualitativas y cuantitativas para la tabulación de los datos y posteriormente se elaboraron y diseñaron las estrategias metodológicas que conformaron la propuesta. Los participantes en la investigación fueron veinticuatro estudiantes de sétimo, veinticinco de octavo Y dieciséis de noveno, así como cinco docentes de ciencias ambos grupos del Colegio Nocturno de Sinaí y también tres especialistas en el tema Carta de la Tierra. Los principales resultados de esta indagaciÓn muestran que la mayoría de los estudiantes entrevistados tienen una noción sobre Carta de la Tierra, y tanto los docentes, como especialistas en el tema consideran que sería de gran relevancia poner estos principios en práctica en estudiantes de secundaria para fortalecer valores y crear un mundo mejor. Las conclusiones indicen que a pesar de que tanto docentes como estudiantes tienen una noción acerca del tema, desconocen sus fundamentos y principios que tampoco se aplican en secundaria. Según los criterios emitidos por las expertas, se considera posible implementar los principios de la Carta de la Tierra, en todos los contenidos del programa de estudio de ciencias, debido a la afinidad entre ambos temas. Por último, la propuesta creada facilita la labor docente, ya que se proponen estrategias sencillas, vivenciales y concretas para que el estudiante logre motivación y aprendizaje a largo plazo. Durante la validación de la misma los estudiantes se mostraron interesados, motivados y participativos, por lo cual se concluye que fue exitosa. Entre las principales recomendaciones están aquellas dirigidas al Ministerio de Educación Pública, a que facilite los espacios de capacitación a docentes Y estudiantes sobre los valores y principios de Carta de la Tierra para ofrecer una educación más integral. A los docentes la aplicación de las actividades sugeridas y a los estudiantes involucrarse en las actividades relacionadas con la temática ponerlos en práctica en el hogar, la comunidad y la institución.

The purpose of this research was to design methodological strategies based on the principles of the Earth Charter, in order to promote the practice of values ​​and principles of sustainable development, in students of the Third Cycle of Basic General Education, of the Sinai Night School of the circuit 01 of the Educational Region of Pérez Zeledón. The research was based on the naturalistic paradigm and used the qualitative approach. The literature consulted shows topics related to the Earth Charter, such as the educational policy of the 21st century, training in values, environmental education, education and sustainable development, philosophy, content and use of the Earth Charter in education. For the collection of information, instruments were applied to the subjects under study and qualitative and quantitative tools were used for the tabulation of the data and later the methodological strategies that formed the proposal were elaborated and designed. The participants in the research were twenty-four students from the seventh, twenty-five from the eighth and sixteen from the ninth, as well as five science teachers, both groups from the Sinai Night School and also three specialists in the subject of the Earth Charter. The main results of this investigation show that most of the students interviewed have a notion about the Earth Charter, and both teachers and specialists in the subject consider that it would be highly relevant to put these principles into practice in high school students to strengthen values ​​and create a better world. The conclusions indicate that despite the fact that both teachers and students have a notion about the subject, they are unaware of its foundations and principles that are not applied in secondary school either. According to the criteria issued by the experts, it is considered possible to implement the principles of the Earth Charter, in all the contents of the science study program, due to the affinity between both topics. Finally, the proposal created facilitates the teaching work, since simple, experiential and concrete strategies are proposed for the student to achieve motivation and long-term learning. During the validation of the same, the students were interested, motivated and participatory, for which it is concluded that it was successful. Among the main recommendations are those addressed to the Ministry of Public Education, to facilitate training spaces for teachers and students on the values ​​and principles of the Earth Charter to offer a more comprehensive education. To the teachers the application of the suggested activities and to the students to get involved in the activities related to the theme to put them into practice at home, the community and the institution.
