The aim of this study was to analyze and compare rainfall and flow rate in the watershed of the Pardo River, in the period 1974-1999, to assess the degree of relationship between rainfall and runoff of this river. We used flow rates, daily and annual of the Pardo River and annual rainfall in the basin of this river. Over the years, dry, pluvious, and habitual, selected through the Method of Sturges and Agglomerative Hierarchical Method, with the Ward technique, the flow of the Pardo River replied, with the same sign, the annual rainfall that occurred in those years, as observed in the flow duration curves. Periods, pluvious 1974-1983, and dry 1984-1999, interfered in the volume drained from the Pardo River, with change in average daily flow which was noticed, downstream of the river, a year after the beginning of the dry period and the amount in the same year. The method of Pettitt revealed the locations and dates of the river, on which this change occurred. Analyses revealed that the daily flow decreased by 18%, upstream of the Pardo River, after 1984, downstream, after 1985 and that in respect rainfall and runoff, 13,3% of the average volume precipitated in the basin drained by mouth of the basin.O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar e comparar chuva e vazão na bacia hidrográfica do Rio Pardo, no período de 1974 a 1999, visando avaliar o grau de relação entre chuva e vazão desse rio. Utilizou-se as vazões, diárias e anuais do Rio Pardo e as chuvas anuais da bacia. Nos anos, seco, chuvoso e habitual, selecionados por meio do Método de Sturges e do Método Aglomerativo Hierárquico, com a Técnica de Ward, a vazão do Rio Pardo respondeu, com um mesmo sinal, às chuvas anuais que ocorreram nesses anos, conforme se observou nas curvas de permanência. Os períodos, chuvoso - 1974 a 1983, e seco - 1984 a 1999, interferiram no volume escoado do Rio Pardo, com mudança na vazão média diária o que, foi notado, à jusante do rio, um ano depois do início do período seco e, à montante, no mesmo ano. O Método de Pettitt revelou os locais do rio e as datas, em que essa mudança ocorreu. As análises revelaram que as vazões diárias diminuíram 18%, à montante do Rio Pardo, depois de 1984, à jusante, depois de 1985 e que, na relação chuva e vazão, 13,3% do volume médio precipitado na bacia escoou pelo exutório.
