Resumen
The objective of this work was to show the treatment with dental extractions of a ClassI case in which the left maxillary first molar presented greater involvement in the crown structure and need for endodontic treatment and the right maxillary second premolar was erupted ectopically on the palate. The treatment plan was performed with extractions of these teeth added to the extractions of 2 mandibular first premolars. The orthodontic mechanics did not undergo major changes because of the atypical extraction, because there was a great amount of crowding in the dental arches. At the end of treatment, the patient presented satisfactory occlusion with great facial harmony and smile esthetics, demonstrating that atypical extractions may help to correct malocclusions with great benefit to the patient.
