Resumen
The main purpose of the thesis has been to understand the resistance strategies practiced by workers in mineral extraction. The thesis was structured in three articles that state the objectives in specifications. The first paper, in the form of an essay, aimed to conceptualize and characterize the phenomenon of resistance at work, identifying its hidden strategies, manifested by the worker as part of health. Through the psycho-sociological approach, we developed a reflective analysis that culminated in the proposition of a model and definition for the resistance, in order to help to understand its elasticity, dynamics and attributes assumed in its manifestation at work. It takes the various hidden resistances as unique expressions of the daily life of the worker and his group in the face of the managerial controls of the work organization and resistance as part and expression of health, as it represents the power of self-preservation, emancipation and a positive indicator of individual and collective health at/from work. We continued with empirical research that was divided into two articles. We developed field activities based on semi-structured interviews – with 36 former mining employees and unionists in Brumado-BA (Brazil). We applied hermeneutic content analysis with the support of the use of QDA Miner software, supported by the psychosociological approach. The second paper aimed to describe the process of the resistance strategies formation used by mining workers. As results we present: the use of oneself, conscience and the group as bases for the formation of resistance at work; attributes as part and expression of the composition of resistance at work; procedural elements of resistance formation; context and meanings of the resistance; attributes of resistance intertwined and interwoven in its constitution and expression; and part of the training and transmission of knowledge carried out by consensual validation and use of tutoring; the processes of formation of resistance strategies, with the same bases and different ways of articulating the attributes, are potentiated by the response and mobilization capacity of the worker/group. In the third article, as we identified the resistance strategies practiced by mining workers, we found: power disputing attributes with resistance; power in managerial actions; resistance in daily work; the workers perceptions about the power strategies, resistances of the workers, syndical resistances, geminate resistances, strategy of resistances overcome by the power, as well as the strategies social impacts inside and outside the companies. The several resistance manifestations are complements one another and seek to preserve the worker by survival, protection and health safety. Part of these can be considered surveillance of the health of the workers practiced for workers in mining, carried out by the miners themselves. The contributions and limitations of the research, as well as the suggestion of new studies have been presented. We consider the importance of resistance for health at work and its strategies as a power to preserve workers in everyday work situations.
