Resumen
The use of adsorption air conditioning systems in vehicles is a possibility of applying the heat lost in the combustion process in a technology that favors the well-being of the user and the performance of the car. It was proposed to evaluate the feasibility of applying this system in a passenger vehicle considering the main characteristics of an adsorptive cooler, through dynamic numerical modeling. The main available heat sources, the most common cycle types, the working pairs with the best results in previous studies and the reactors with the best performance in moving environments were evaluated. Based on this evaluation, a system was developed using exhaust gases as a heat source, a two-layer cycle, silica gel/water working pair and a finned tube reactor. The system was simulated using a combined method of Adams and BDF, in Google's Colab environment. It was observed that the evaporator air outlet temperature varied between 10°C and 22°C, promoting a comfortable environment for the user. However, the performance parameters were below expectations and could not provide real competition to classic air conditioning systems. It was concluded that, as it presents very heavy systems that occupy a large space in the vehicle, in addition to significant intermittence and low effective conditioning values, the system could be considered unfeasible at the moment for passenger vehicles.
