Resumen
The improvement of operational efficiency is a growing concern among mining companies. The costs related to loading and hauling of materials are the most representative in operations, and thus the maximization of the fleet’s productive capacity lowers the costs and increases revenues. The productivity of the haulage trucks fleet in mining is composed by the KPI’s average payload and cycle time. The increase in the payload and reduction in the cycle time maximizes the fleet’s productivity. In this paper, a statistical analysis of the average payload of the truck fleet of a mine site, composed of two different types of off-road trucks, as well as some opportunities to improve the payload, is presented. The analysis indicated that there are significant differences between the crews that operate the mine, that the wheel loaders have better performance than the excavators, and that waste removal has shown to be more difficult in terms of payload. The paper concludes that there are several actions that can be further analyzed and taken, like the balance of skilled and new operators between the crews, better management of the KPI in the routine and better allocation of the fleet
