Resumen
Biochemistry is a topic which is considered hard to be understand, due to the amount of information and its close association among Biology, Chemistry and Physics, leading to a challenging achievement of the complexity of the phenomenon and abstraction by students. In Basic Education, it’s necessary to approach the subject by alternative practices in order to stimulate the curiosity in students, making the conceptualization easier. Investigation teaching is a proposal that can gather the scientific method steps, promoting effective strategies in building scientific phenomenon explanations, consolidating in students the needed abilities to achieve autonomy as well as the Biochemistry concepts in the routine. In the present work, simultaneously to Biochemistry studies, we proposed to produce a digital book, promoting the challenge of correlating the neurotransmission processes of the Central Nervous System (CNS) in the classroom, producing connections between the structure of chemical mediators that transport information to our organism and other chemistry species, also presented in daily life, and essential to the metabolism. In order to establish these connections, it is needed that students understand the scalar transition of the submicroscopic and microscopic structures. In that regard, three educational tools were proposed in three different axes, in a complementary fashion: (1) the production of a free digital book in PDF format, (2) a manual of experimental practices which is attached to the digital book and (3) a teaching practice sequence, which its relevance was analyzed by a critical analysis. The digital book has easy and wide disclosure, which allows the popularization of Biochemistry in the regards to a dimensional level. The accessible language of the digital book might contribute in concepts comprehension, anchoring the previous knowledge of the students. The manual of experimental practices can be used by the readers or teachers in basic educational levels as an active strategy with investigative focus that will help the learning process of students. In this process, the knowledge of biomolecular composition, also presented by the molecular processes of CNS information transmissions, is also approached.
