Resumen
Introduction: Low back pain is the second place on the list of search for medical care, second only to headaches. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 65 to 80% of people will have some episode of low back pain. In view of its effect on
functional disabilities, morbidities, decreased productivity and absenteeism, direct relationship in excessive absences at work and being the third cause of disability retirement, low back pain should be one of the treatment priorities in Public Health.
Physiotherapeutic treatment in primary care is carried out through physical exercise, patient education and awareness of pain aggravating factors in everyday life, often performed in a group. Objective: The objective of this review was to verify the
effectiveness of group treatments in primary care for the outcomes of pain and disability in patients with low back pain. Methodology: This is a literature review. The search for articles was carried out in the electronic bases: PEDro, PubMed; Cochrane
Libary and VHL. Randomized or pilot clinical trials of randomized clinical trials written in English, Spanish or Portuguese, published in the last ten years, were considered eligible. Results: Four articles were eligible and three of them demonstrated efficacy
for the outcome of disability and one for the outcome of pain. Conclusion: Although the evidence shows that group treatments in primary care have positive results, more studies are needed to more robustly evaluate the effectiveness of this intervention for
the outcomes of pain and disability.
