Resumen
Developmental dyslexia is a learning disorder that impacts learning to read isolated words. Traditionally, the difficulty profile presented by dyslexics is classified according to the impairment in one of the reading routes: lexical or phonological, but recent studies suggest several other possible impairments. This article aims at presenting the different subtypes of dyslexia, according to deficits in the components of the double route reading model. By means of a narrative review of the literature, different profiles of reading difficulties will be characterized. In addition, specific intervention possibilities, as well as the Brazilian research scenario, will also be described. From this, it is expected that the understanding of the heterogeneity of developmental dyslexia will improve.
