Resumen
Introduction: Telehealth is a digital instrument that allows a continuous follow-up of each patient, reduces the time spent in the office, and facilitates the diligence of the clinical history therefore it is important to know the one of the students of health sciences, since it is a new tool that was included in their clinical practices. Objective: To determine the perception of the students of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universidad Santo Tomás about telehealth. Materials and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out for 180 students of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universidad Santo Tomás. The data were collected through a face-to-face survey with 40 questions, 8 of them sociodemographic and 32 on perception. Statistical analysis was carried out in the Stata14 program where questions of perception were related to sociodemographic and perception with advantages and disadvantages. Resolution 8430 was taken into account, where it was classified as risk-free research and conducted with informed consent. Results: The participants had a median of 22 years old, most belonged to a stratum 4 and were women. 43.01% report that they feel ready to perform telehealth, but with difficulty, 53.76% of students found it regular to perform dental counseling through TICs. There is evidence of statistical significance between perception with the variables comfort to the development of telehealth and if they feel ready to use the telehealth tool. Conclusions: It was evident that for dental students, telehealth was a good tool to access remote communities, but they do not feel comfortable doing it because of the difficulties that arise as the bad connection to access TICs.
