The incorporation of a large part of the Iberian Peninsula into the Islamic and, culturally and linguistically, Arab world left deep traces in the history of the Hispanic peoples. These traces can be seen in architecture, in food, in certain customs, in place names... It has even been argued (Américo Castro) that the very human, social and political reality of Spain was created throughout the Middle Ages in the long process of confrontation and interference between the Christian (and European) and Muslim worlds, with the decisive intervention in addition to the Jewish element.
