Resumen
This research work uses the school biography of the teachers of General Basic Education of the
Francisca Dávila Educational Unit of the Cuenca canton with the objective of characterizing their
influence on the development of their critical thinking. The research has a qualitative approach,
with a design that corresponds to the phenomenological type. Sampling is voluntary. As a
technique he used the semi-structured interview and observation. The information obtained was
processed in the Atlas Ti program. The results show that teachers had different experiences
during their time as students, some pleasant, others unpleasant. Both types of experiences
influenced their teaching experience and moved them to act in an innovative way to optimize the
educational process, which implies acting with a critical position towards their experiences,
which in turn confirms the use of biography as a means to the development of critical thinking.
