Background: Alzheimer's is a neurological disease that directly affects the autonomy and worth of the human being, in some cases some degree of inability to perform daily tasks develops; it constitutes a health and social problem; including the family, due to the need for ongoing supervision and care as it progresses. In this sense, the person who cares for him, depending on time, experience, and the degree of dependency that the person has, begins to develop overload characterized by having an inadequate response to coping with stress, physical and psychological exhaustion. Objective: To determine the level of overload of the caregiver of patients with Alzheimer's in Geriatric Centers. Cuenca City 2022-2023 Methods: Quantitative descriptive study of a cross-sectional cohort, we worked with a finite universe. The Zarit Scale was used as an instrument, which presents a Cronbach's alpha of 0.92; In addition, the program was used: SPSS to process the data; and the results were presented in simple frequency tables, percentages. Results: the study population was made up of 56% of caregivers in early adulthood (20-40 years), the female sex predominated (69.3%), while 54.7% had a level of overload between light and intense and Less than a year is dedicated to care, in addition there is no relationship between the sociodemographic variables and the level of overload. Conclusions: according to the data obtained, it is observed that there is a predominance of the absence of overload, even so, there is a percentage that does present it; For this reason, it would be important to carry out future studies to determine the factors that influence this to happen, in addition to applying prevention and health promotion techniques in people with this problem.
