Resumen
This work focused on obtaining the fuel consumption curve of a Chevrolet Aveo 1.6L engine by
collecting data with a flowmeter and a pressure sensor to assess the performance of the engine.
For the development of the tests, the Aveo 1.6 L engine was used, coupled to the Borghi & Saveri
dynamometric bench, model FA-200/30 SP, which operates under the eddy current or Foucault
principle. For the measurement of the fuel flow, a sensor based on the Hall effect was used, usable
in Arduino or C language programming supported by a fuel pressure gauge. The results obtained
show when comparing the rotational speed and minimum consumption, as fixed reference points
in the consumption curve of the Aveo 1.6 engine, the smallest data error is obtained in test 2, with
a margin of error of 8 .4% and 2% corresponding to the rotational speed and minimum fuel
consumption, at the same time, the error results of test 3 stand out, with values of 9.2% and 11%
respectively. The method applied to obtain the fuel consumption curve reached uneven error
margins, in tests 2 and 3, errors close to 10% were obtained, at the same time, in tests 1 and 4
errors of 81% were obtained. and 54%. Finally, according to the results, the operation of the flow
and pressure sensor allow the measurement of data close to the reality of the operation of the
analyzed engine, for which it is recommended to develop a check-list process, both for the Aveo
1 engine ,6, and the dynamometric bench, to achieve repeatability and reliability of the tests
carried out.
