At present there is a lot of theory of reference to the mechanical design of pressure vessels, however for the calculation it implies having prior knowledge to discern a correct application of formulas. Pressure vessels, in many cases, are the core of the production process in the industry worldwide, which is why their importance and relevance in mechanical design stands out.
The main objective of this project is to develop a procedure in the mechanical design phase of a 200 GLS gas scrubber, containers widely used in the oil industry. For the mechanical design of pressure vessels, international regulations have been created and adopted, for this case the ASME VIII division 1 code is based, the procedure consists of concepts, assignment of responsibilities in the process, as well as type graphs flowcharts that will facilitate the design in the engineering area.
In conclusion, a procedure was generated as a design guide to help the industry to obtain minimum thickness values required for its different elements that make up the pressure vessel under design parameters established by users with the support of the applicable code.
