This project shows the power factor control study for a photovoltaic solar system in the Vuelta Larga parish of the Esmeraldas Canton, where an applied quantitative methodology is presented, where the climatic and environmental conditions of the Vuelta Larga Parish will be studied as ; the available solar resource, as well as the electricity demand curve for the sizing of the photovoltaic plant and the power factor values ​​of the area. For which simulations were carried out through functional blocks in the MATLAB/Simulink software.  El presente proyecto muestra el estudio de control de factor de potencia para un sistema solar fotovoltaico en la parroquia Vuelta Larga del Cantón Esmeraldas, donde se presenta una metodología aplicada de tipo cuantitativa, donde se estudiarán las condiciones climáticas y ambientales de la Parroquia Vuelta Larga como; el recurso solar disponible, así como también la curva de demanda eléctrica para el dimensionamiento de la central fotovoltaica y los valores de factor de potencia de la zona. Para lo cual se realizaron simulaciones a través de bloques funcionales en el software MATLAB/Simulink.
