Botryosphaeriaceae (L. theobromae, D. mutila, D. seriata, N arbuti y N. parvum)
// ABSTRACT: Chile is considered a major exporter worldwide and is in first place in the southern
hemisphere in wine exports and fourth in the world, covering an area planted with
136,166 ha of viniferous vines, where the main production area is the Region of the
Maule with 53,546 ha. However, the grapevines are affected in profitability and
decreased production by diseases such as dieback associated with
Botryosphaeriaceae spp. The objective of this study is to determine the necrotic
lesion in cuttings of grapevines cvs. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah in the
laboratory and in cv. C. Sauvignon in the field, inoculated with a suspension of
mycelium fragments (105 conidia/mL) of 10 Botryosphaeriaceae isolates belonging
to L. theobromae, D. mutila, D. seriata, N. arbuti and N. parvum) obtained from
different host fruit trees (apple, blueberries, grapevines and walnut trees) from the
Maule Region. After 6 months (laboratory) and 9 months (field) of incubation,
cuttings and canes developed significant necrotic lesions ranging from 11 to 86
mm in length. Results showed that all species caused significant lesions on
grapevine, but N. parvum was the most virulent followed by N. arbuti and D. mutila.
In cutting and canes, the species L. theobromae was significantly the least virulent.
This study indicates that isolates of Neofusicoccum spp. Would be more virulent
than the rest of the Botryosphaeriaceae species, regardless of the origin of the
isolate, causing necrotic lesions in grapevines. | |
