Tecnicas para lograr el optimo de la caracteristica de generacion de una central hidroelectrica con variacion de velocidad

Ante el incremento de la demanda eléctrica es de imperiosa necesidad mejorar la oferta eléctrica y por el poco incremento de construcción de nuevas plantas de generación hidráulica surge la necesidad de optimizar los procesos de generación hidráulica tal como está ocurriendo con las centrales de generación térmicas al mejorar los procesos de generación con la utilización de los ciclos combinados
En el primer tercio de este siglo, los sistemas hidroeléctricos eran a su vez los más rígidos de aquellos destinados a la explotación de energía eléctrica. Por una parte, exigían una inversión inicial elevada que, además, definía la capacidad productiva de la central a largo plazo. Por el contrario, las centrales termonucleares precisaban en torno a 1935 de una menor inversión para el establecimiento y eran capaces de adecuarse a corto plazo a los incrementos paulatinos de la demanda. Las centrales hidroeléctricas, en cambio, operaban con un sobrante de potencia instalada sin utilizar en atención a los incrementos esperados de la demanda. La oferta hidroeléctrica crecía por impulsos, por cuanto los planes de expansión se efectuaban al menos con un quinquenio de antelación. Por otra parte, la oferta hidroeléctrica no solía ser suficiente para atender la carga contratada. Pese a que la regulación de los cauces facilitaría con el tiempo su pleno aprovechamiento, la explotación hidroeléctrica estaba entonces sometida a las oscilaciones pluviométricas que determinaban un régimen de caudal diario, semanal, estacional y anual. En estas circunstancias, las compañías precisaban sostener pequeñas termoeléctricas de reserva con una potencia instalada equivalente a la diferencia entre la punta de carga del sistema y la menor producción hidroeléctrica esperada en las peores condiciones de estiaje. El recurso a estas fábricas de electricidad añadía costos de maquinaria, combustible y personal para las compañías.
En resumen, los sistemas hidroeléctricos exigían cuantiosas inversiones iniciales, previsión en la explotación a largo plazo, y complementarse con centrales de reserva; asimismo, eran poco elásticos a las variaciones de la demanda a corto plazo, aunque eliminaban al costo de combustible y recortaban los costos de mantenimiento de las centrales.
En estas circunstancias, los mejores resultados del periodo de entreguerras se obtuvieron allí donde a las mejores condiciones naturales –altura, caudal regular y fácil accesibilidad al salto- se sumaron los siguientes factores: diversificación de la explotación eléctricas con centrales térmicas a gran escala, integración de un sistema regional con otros cercanos para compensar puntas y valles, y adecuación de la demanda a la oferta con el establecimiento de grandes industrias consumidoras intensivas de energía, que demandaran una carga constante para eliminar buena parte de las incertidumbres en la carga instantánea de las centrales de cabecera.
Analizando los modelos de explotación a corto plazo descritos se detectan ciertas limitaciones que pueden resumirse en los siguientes puntos:
a) Es frecuente ignorar en los estudios a corto plazo la influencia de la variación del volumen del embalse a lo largo del periodo de explotación.
b) Se recurre generalmente a dividir el problema en dos partes o problemas distintos: la asignación óptima de grupos y el despacho económico o de carga de los grupos asignados.
Los modelos planteados en la tesis resuelven simultáneamente la asignación y el despacho económico de los grupos de la central y también tienen en cuenta el efecto de la variación del salto durante el proceso de optimización, superando así las principales limitaciones de la mayoría de los modelos existentes.
Los tres modelos se apoyan en la metodología que se propone en la tesis para obtener la característica de generación de la central, quedando implícitos en la solución de los tres modelos el estado óptimo (arranque/parada) y la potencia que producen todos los grupos de la central. Los tres modelos se apoyan además en una serie de procedimientos iterativos, de modelado y de discretización,
Para el desarrollo del presente trabajo se contemplaron plantearlo en cuatro capítulos de los cuales el primero está referido a las generalidades del trabajo de investigación, en el segundo capítulo se presenta el marco regulatorio de los modelos de explotación, en el tercer capítulo se presenta los modelos lineal, no lineal y el dinámico para finalmente en el cuarto capítulo realizar las aplicaciones correspondientes. Para comprobar la validez de los modelos, se estudia con éstos la explotación a corto plazo de una central de referencia formada por dos grupos generadores, bajo distintas condiciones de operación.
