Dendrología de cuatro especies de la familia Myristicaceae del sector Unión Siria –Puerto Bermúdez, Pasco

El estudio dendrológico, se realizó en la zona de Puerto Bermúdez, sector Unión Siria, en
85,46 ha de bosque de propiedad privada, con la finalidad de identificar y describir cuatro
especies maderables de la familia Myristicaceae. La investigación es cualitativa, tipo
aplicada, no experimental, nivel explicativo y método descriptivo. Comprende el censo
forestal, herborización, identificación y descripción dendrológica. Las especies son Virola
pavonis (A. DC.) A.C. Sm., Otoba parvifolia (Markgraf) A. Gentry, Osteophloeum
platyspermurn (A. DC.) Warb y Virola elongata (Benth) Warb. Las principales
características dendrológicas son propias de la familia Myristicaceae: árboles dioicos,
porte alto, mediano en V. elongata, ramificación monopódica y verticilada, con
modificaciones de aletas tablares y raíces zancos en V. pavonis más ramitas terminales
glabras con tricomas estrellados. Hojas simples enteras ápice acuminado solo en O.
platyspermurn el ápice redondeado. La corteza externa es fisurado o agrietado variando
por el color y ritidoma desprendible, largas rectangulares o irregulares en V. elongata, y
grietas profundas más lenticelado en O. platyspermurn. Se diferencian en exudación de
corteza interna, crema rojiza amarga en V. pavonis; blanquecino, poca savia translúcida,
amarga rojizo astringente en O. parvifolia; savia abundante amarillo-ámbar cristalino, olor
característico y amargo astringente en O. platyspermurn; rojiza y amarga en V. elengota.
Flores glomeruladas pequeñas, ferruginosas en V. pavonis, inflorescencias en panícula
excepto espigas en fascículos en O. parvifolia. Fruto de semilla única con en fibrillas
(arilo). Se concluye, son especies de características que facilitan el reconocimiento y dos
especies pertenecen al género Virola.
