Diseño de un equipo de separación de una mezcla de PET/PVC por medio de flotación

La presente tesis surgió de la idea de obtener datos experimentales para la separación de mezclas de PET (Tereftalato de Polietileno) y PVC (Policloruro de Vinilo) empleando operaciones de procesamiento de minerales tales como: tratamiento alcalino y flotación, a las condiciones atmosféricas de Huancayo de 520 mm Hg, en vista del gran volumen de residuo generado y el agotamiento de relleno sanitario, entre otros.
Para ello se realizaron pruebas preliminares el primer paso fue tratar las muestras con solución alcalina de Hidróxido de Sodio (NaOH) en temperaturas de 30°C a 70°C (tratamiento termoquímico), con el objetivo de modificar la superficie del PET, paralelamente se estableció el tamaño de las partículas de dichos polímeros, para ser separados aprovechando las propiedades físico – químicas de hidrofobicidad.
Para el proceso de flotación el pH fue variando entre 6 y 12 al igual que la temperatura que fue variado de 25°C a 75°C con un tiempo de aproximado de 5 min.
Partiendo de los resultados obtenidos en la experimentación se procedió al diseño del equipo de separación, se han analizado las principales partes del equipo, un análisis sobre el comportamiento de las cantidades que ingresaran al tanque de separación, tanto el gasto del agua, la cantidad de reactivos químicos necesaria para lograr la concentración establecida en las consideraciones.
Las condiciones de tratamiento termoquímico mostraron que la solución con 2% de NaOH y temperatura óptima de 50°C mostraron el medio más eficiente de separación en medio básico con un pH óptimo de 8.5 y tiempo de tratamiento óptimo de 30 min, llegando a alcanzar un 75.73 % de recuperación de PVC y 86.23 % de recuperación de PET, a nivel de planta piloto con el prototipo diseñado se obtuvo una recuperación de 56.96 % en PVC y 83.51 %en PET.
