La presente tesis tiene como objetivo implementar un proceso de mejora continua al sistema de flotación por aire disuelto de la planta procesadora de harina y aceite de pescado, PROMASA. Dicha empresa en estudio se encuentra ubicada en el distrito de Chimbote, provincia de Santa, departamento de Ancash.
La investigación comenzó diagnosticando el estado actual del sistema de flotación que tratan las aguas residuales, encontrándose que los efluentes tratados sobrepasan los límites de control superior (LCS) en cuanto a los sólidos suspendidos totales (> 700 mg/l) y aceites y grasas (> 350 mg/l). Luego se utilizó el diagrama de Ishikawa y Pareto para determinar las principales causas de este problema.
Identificadas las causas, se implementó el ciclo PHVA (planear, hacer, verificar y actuar), mediante el cual se elaboró un manual de operaciones para la celda química, así mismo se corroboró la reducción de la concentración de los contaminantes de los efluentes, y se verificó el estado de cumplimiento de la mejora continua mediante la aplicación de un check list de procedimientos operacionales a la celda química del sistema DAF y también a la correcta dosificación de coagulante y floculante.
