Tratamiento de la sonrisa gingival mediante técnica de reposicionamiento labial.

Abstract

La sonrisa ha sido siempre el rasgo que da la expresión facial, una sonrisa agradable y atractiva refleja un carácter alegre y amistoso, por contrario, si es defectuosa podrá llegar a ser una condición estética indeseable, por lo que genera baja autoestima y a su vez vergüenza. El objetivo principal del presente trabajo es analizar las ventajas del tratamiento de sonrisa gingival, mediante la técnica quirúrgica del reposicionamiento labial, teniendo en cuenta los objetivos específicos, clasificar los tipos de sonrisa existentes según Tjan y determinar cuáles son las posibles técnicas correctivas para la sonrisa gingival. La técnica quirúrgica de reposicionamiento o estabilización labial descrita por Lintton y Fournier, consiste en retirar una banda de tejido epitelial en forma de elipse y suturar la mucosa del labio hacia la línea mucogingival generando un vestíbulo más estrecho, lo que va a generar una restricción de movimiento en los músculos peribucales descendiendo así́, de forma casi imperceptible, el labio y ayudando a reducir la cantidad de encía que se exhibe al momento de sonreír. Empleando la técnica de reposicionamiento labial se logra disminuir la cantidad de encía expuesta creando una sonrisa más armónica y agradable, en algunos casos se realizaron técnicas quirúrgicas paralelas, como la gingivectomía para mejorar aún más el contorno gingival. De tal forma, se concluye que el reposicionamiento labial como técnica quirúrgica para corrección de sonrisa gingival, es bastante confiable y predecible.

The lip repositioning or stabilization surgical technique described by Lintton and Fournier consists of removing a band of epithelial tissue in the shape of an ellipse and suturing the mucosa of the lip towards the mucogingival line, generating a narrower vestibule, which will generate a restriction of movement in the perioral muscles, thus descending, almost imperceptibly, the lip and helping to reduce the amount of gum that is exhibited when smiling. Using the lip repositioning technique, it is possible to reduce the amount of exposed gums, creating a more harmonious and pleasant smile. In some cases, parallel surgical techniques were performed, such as gingivectomy, to further improve the gingival contour. Thus, it is concluded that lip repositioning as a surgical technique for gummy smile correction is quite reliable and predictable.
