The objective of this research project is to technically and economically analyze the
implementation of a cocoa collection center (Theobroma Cacao) in El Empalme canton, it
should be noted that the country is internationally recognized for the taste, smell and quality of
cocoa thanks to the specialization that it has had in its preparation and the care of quality, being
one of the main sources of income for the country, however, in certain sectors they still have
difficulties in their organization and sale, as it is in the canton El Empalme, for this reason, the
project seeks to contribute to the efficiency in the production and marketing chain of dry and
slime cocoa, among small and medium producers, facilitating the reduction of the process to
have a quality product ready for sale. A mixed qualitative and quantitative methodology was
carried out, inductive, experimental, documentary-bibliographic research methods, as well as
the use of surveys to know the expected impact, obtaining optimistic results around the cocoa
trade, as well as supply and demand. In the technical study, factors such as the size of the plant,
storage capacity, seasonality, location, financing, Human resources, machinery and equipment
were determined, as well as the production process that must be carried out is described. In the
economic analysis, it should be emphasized that fixed investment is high due to the need to
have cash to purchase from farmers, however, evaluating the project with the net present value,
it produces high wealth with a discount rate of 15% that when evaluating with the internal rate
of return it is determined that the project guarantees a profitability rate of 6.15%, so the project
is feasible considering its agricultural nature.
