Etiopatogenia de la periodontitis crónica

Abstract

La periodontitis crónica es una enfermedad multifactorial en la que se produce la degradación de los tejidos de soporte como son: el ligamento periodontal, cemento radicular y el hueso alveolar, que está asociada a la respuesta inflamatoria causada por la acumulación de placa bacteriana o biofilm. Generalmente prevalece en adultos, aunque también suele aparecer en niños de 2 a 4 años, además la periodontitis crónica es modificada por factores sistémicos como diabetes mellitus e infección por VIH, además de otros factores ambientales como el tabaquismo, nivel socioecomico y estrés emocional. Objetivo: Explicar la etiopatogenia de la periodontitis crónica. Metodología: Se llevó a cabo una investigación tipo cualitativa, descriptiva, no experimental y transversal en la cual se recopilo información científica necesaria. Conclusiones: Al conocer el origen o causa de la periodontitis crónica se identificara con mayor exactitud el tipo de patología llegando así a un diagnóstico y plan de tratamiento correcto.

Chronic periodontitis is a multifactorial disease in which degradation of support tissues occurs such as: the periodontal ligament, root cement and alveolar bone, which is associated with the inflammatory response caused by the accumulation of bacterial plaque or biofilm. It generally prevails in adults, although it also usually appears in children from ages 2 until 4 years. Furthermore, chronic periodontitis is modified by systemic factors such as diabetes mellitus and HIV infection, in addition to other environmental factors such as smoking, socio-economic level and emotional stress. The Objective of this research is to explain the etiopathogenesis of chronic periodontitis. The Methodology is qualitative, descriptive, non-experimental and cross-sectional investigation was carried out in which necessary scientific information was collected from 33 articles and books. In Conclusion by knowing the origin or the cause of chronic periodontitis and the pathological type it will be more easily identify, the correct diagnosis and treatment.
