The number of deceased due to COVID-19 was devastating in Peru. Using the 2017 census, the database of the MINSA and deaths of the SINADEF, and the correlation tests of Spearman and Kendall the relationship between the number of deaths and the qualitative and quantitative housing deficit of the most densely populated cities in the country is explored. A direct association was found between the number of deaths and population density. However, the association with the qualitative and quantitative deficit is not consistent with the hypothesis or that found in the literature.El número de fallecidos a causa de la COVID-19 fue devastador en Perú. Empleando el censo del año 2017, la base de datos del MINSA y de defunciones del SINADEF, y las pruebas de correlación de Spearman y Kendall se explora la relación entre el número de fallecidos por COVID-19 y el déficit habitacional cualitativo y cuantitativo de las ciudades más densamente pobladas de Perú. Se encontró una asociación directa entre el número de fallecidos y la densidad poblacional. Sin embargo, la asociación con el déficit cualitativo y cuantitativo no es consistente con la hipótesis ni lo reportado por la literatura.
