Resumen
The Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy is applied in disks and propellers of jet engines. In operation, these components are subject to the combination of dynamic and constant loadings. The dwell-fatigue loading is a result of the interaction between fatigue and creep mechanisms. The investigation of the dwell effect is relevant to the aeronautical industry to prevent premature failures and increase the reliability of structural components. The present work aims to investigate the dwell-fatigue loading influence on the damage mechanisms of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy. Preliminary results showed that a significant plastic strain accumulation occurs during the dwell holds for the Ti-6Al-4V during the first dwell-fatigue cycles.
