Resumen
The present work seeks to analyze the subtitles made from the artificial language Klingon into Portuguese in the movie Star Trek III: The search for Spock (1984). The investigation proceeded by Suvi Ramula (2007) is used so that the subtitles are studied through local (GOTTLIEB, 1992) and global (VENUTTI, 1995) translation approaches. In addition, we also observe the multimodality described by Stockl (2004). This study seeks to understand the translation strategies that are considered for the subtitling of artificial languages as well as to comprehend how the other elements present in the scenes affect the translators' choices. We conclude that the multimodal elements have an influence on subtitles and that the translator used foreign words more frequently by maintaining the Klingon language with help of different modalities.
