This article is part of a research completed at the Master's level, whose general objective was to understand the architecture of the illustrating act by Rui de Oliveira and his contribution with the picture books for the small literary reader upbringing. This text is about excerpts from one of the Dialogical Encounters with the mentioned illustrator regarding the creation process of the work O vento, in order to know the trajectory carried out by the artist and his project of saying in this production aimed at the reading public, to discuss the understanding of this picture book based on information shared by its creator, contrasting with the understanding carried out without the knowledge of these ideas and author's intentions. To achieve this purpose, the methodology adopted was inspired by the dialogical proposal and the analysis of the referred work as well as the theoretical framework was supported by the perspective of the philosophy of language. In conclusion, each reading is unique due to the reading experiences of each person, therefore, the reading of a work based on the knowledge of the author's ideas and intentions contributes to a broader and deeper understanding, however, it is not superior to the reading performed without that information.
