TO THE SHADOW OF TRADITIONAL EDUCATION: WHEN EDUCATION AND VALUES FORMATION TURNS TO GENDER AND SEXUALITIES

This text aims to reflect on educational proposals that turn to - or at least make possible a joint work to - education and formation in values, especially those that contemplate the themes of gender and sexualities. Based on bibliographic review and documentary analysis, the educational proposals were: Sexual Education, based on National Curricular Parameters (NCPs), and the Human Rights Education, based on National Human Rights Education Plan (NHREP). We highlight, with emphasis on the importance of formation of teachers, the possibility of these educational proposals being developed in a perspective of education and formation of values while contemplating the themes of gender and sexualities. We conclude that with these proposals, prejudices about gender and sexuality can be deconstructed and that works of education in values, which for so long avoided these themes, can have them as allies in the pursuit of integral formation since childhood.
