Gênero, negritude e memória em Fe en disfraz (2009), de Mayra Santos-Febres

Abstract

Este trabalho analisa o romance Fe en disfraz (2009), de Mayra Santos Febres, o qual apresenta uma narrativa híbrida, que elabora um processo de rememoração de um passado doloroso, que denuncia tanto as relações de dominação e submissão entre homens brancos e mulheres afrodescendentes, como a reprodução destas dinâmicas nas sociedades pós-coloniais. Além disso, investigam-se as questões relativas à construção identitária da mulher negra, versando sobre as teorias que estudam gênero e negritude, a construção histórica sobre as mulheres negras e a criação de imagens estereotipadas oriundas do período escravocrata. Através da análise do romance, pode-se observar como as concepções estereotipadas sobre as identidades das mulheres negras foram moldadas no período escravocrata, assim como tais estereótipos tornam-se objeto de desconstrução por meio da constituição da personagem Fe Verdejo. Finalmente, analisamos como a suspensão temporal em partes do romance apresenta uma temporalidade distinta e mítica.

This work analyses the novel Fe en disfraz (2009), by Mayra Santos Febres, which presents a hybrid narrative, the novel elaborates a process of remembrance of a painful past, which denounces both the relations of domination and submission between white men and Afro-descendant women, and the reproduction of these dynamics in post-colonial societies. In addition, the questions related to the identity construction of black women are investigated, dealing with the theories that study gender and black historical construction on black women and the creation of stereotyped images from the slavery period, through the analysis of the novel, one can observe how the stereotyped conceptions on the indentities of black women may have been shaped in the slavery period, just as such stereotypes become the object of deconstruction through the constitution of the Fe Verdejo character. We intend to analyze how the temporal suspension in parts of the novel presents a distinct and mythical temporality.
