IMPLANTATION OF SELECTIVE COLLECTION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN JUNQUEIROPOLIS/SP

This paper is the result of a research dissertation based upon a professional Master's Thesis in Geography, aimed to assess the environmental education activities in Junqueiropolis (SP), with the intention to promote the implantation of selective collection in the municipality. This work describes the actions taken to mobilize the local society to boost effective participation in such initiative. Thus, a school-based research was undertaken, especially in public schools, as well as in the Municipal Board of Education and in the coordination of the activities performed by Collectors Association of Junqueiropolis (ACAJUNQ),the projects of environmental education were designed to promote the implementation of selective collection program. Through bibliographic information and individual interviews, it was found that the implantation of selective collection in the municipality was successful. Mainly due to the partnership with municipal public schools, where theoretical and practical works to raise awareness were developed, such as competitions, reading, seminars, public presentations, marches, games, research and continuous actions, and through these works we have released selective collection in the municipality, with popular acceptance.
