Literacy practices counted by the secret cupboard of an experienced teacher

In this work, the objective is to analyze the literacy practices of an experienced teacher in a class of the 1st year of elementary school. The qualitative research had as instruments the observation in the classroom and interview. The data were organized in the thematic axis The nature of the Literacy process and analyzed in three categories: literacy conception; choice of literacy methods; teacher knowledge. However, the results reveal how complex it is to teach reading and writing. But it has also been shown that in order to understand this object of study we must see between the lines and therefore we discover that a teacher's secret cupboard has much to tell us about how literacy practices are being constituted.
