Since January 1st, 2017, the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Geological Society has honored the signatories to assume the editorial activities of the Brazilian Journal of Geology (BJG). Our responsibility is tremendous in the face of the hard work and efforts made by the previous Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Umberto G. Cordani, who was in charge of the journal for a little more than five years and, in this short term, gave it a new format, increased the publication of articles in English, and attained indexation in the best international databases such as Scopus and Web of Science.
