This work sought to investigate Brazilian international cooperation, in the South-South Cooperation (CSS) modality, based on the reflection of the implemented initiatives, their results and their effectiveness. Specifically, it analyzed the involvement of IBGE in CSS, through a case study of cooperation between IBGE and the National Institute of Statistics of Cape Verde (INECV), in the sharing of technology for collecting digital data in censuses to carry out the census. 2010 in that country. Documents, reports, methodologies and interviews with the main technical actors and managers of IBGE and INECV were used as research sources. The work also explored the potentialization of the production of census and statistical information, at the local and global levels, for use in domestic public policies and for the production of indicators in relation to global agendas. The study was supported by two theoretical axes, one of the concept of information regime, and the other, of the meaning and the roles of statistical knowledge for the State and society, also taking into account the chains of information production. It was concluded that the use of the regime was well suited for reflection on international cooperation - from the “Emergent Global Information Regime” (Braman) to more defined territorial and institutional scales (Cape Verde), unveiling hybrid networks composed of actors, interests, speeches, norms, artifacts and information actions. In addition, although CSS can be implemented in other broader dimensions, it was possible to reach the proposed objectives of cooperation, through shared technology that enhanced the process of production and dissemination of information directly, in Cape Verde, and indirectly, to the international community, which can contribute to feedback informational demands to countries' internal agendas and to global agendas, through CSS networks. Keywords: South–Este trabalho procurou investigar a cooperação internacional brasileira, na modalidade de Cooperação Sul–Sul (CSS), a partir da reflexão das iniciativas implementadas, seus resultados e da sua efetividade. Analisou, especificamente, o envolvimento do IBGE na CSS, por meio de estudo de caso da cooperação entre o IBGE e o Instituto Nacional de Estatística de Cabo Verde (INECV), no compartilhamento de tecnologia de coleta de dados digital em censos para realização do censo 2010 naquele país. Foram utilizadas como fontes de pesquisa documentos, relatórios, metodologias e entrevistas com os principais atores técnicos e gestores do IBGE e do INECV. O trabalho explorou, ainda, a potencialização da produção de informação censitária e estatística, no âmbito local e global, para uso em políticas públicas domésticas e para a produção de indicadores frente às agendas globais. O estudo apoiou-se em dois eixos teóricos, um do conceito de regime de informação, e outro, do significado e os papéis do saber estatístico para o Estado e a sociedade, levando-se em conta também as cadeias de produção de informação. Concluiu-se que o uso do regime foi bem apropriado para a reflexão sobre a cooperação internacional – desde o “regime emergente global de informação” (Braman) até escalas territoriais e institucionais mais delimitadas (Cabo Verde), desvelando redes híbridas compostas de atores, interesses, discursos, normas, artefatos e ações de informação. Além disso, embora a CSS possa se efetivar em outras dimensões mais amplas, conseguiu-se chegar aos objetivos propostos da cooperação, por meio da tecnologia compartilhada que potencializou o processo de produção e disseminação de informações diretamente, em Cabo Verde, e indiretamente, para a comunidade internacional, o que poderá contribuir para retroalimentar demandas informacionais para as agendas internas dos países e para as agendas globais, através de redes de CSS.
