Background: Lumbar disc herniation is an increasingly frequent affectation in adults, it causes intense pain and physical limitations to those who suffer this sickness; therefore, its early diagnosis is very important to be able to counteract the symptoms.
The case: 67-year-old male patient, known to be hypertensive, on regular treatment with Losartan 50mg/day. He was admitted to the emergency department with a 1-week history of intense pain in the lumbar region that radiated to the lower limb. The physical examination was able to verify chronic symptoms of lumbar pain, thanks to the CMR it was possible to diagnose lumbar disc herniation
Conclusion: Lumbar hernias are very common pathologies that mainly affect males between 50 and 60 years, for this reason we consider it important to highlight this case also considering its symptoms and the limitations that it can cause.
Received: 05/11/2021. Accept: 23/09/2021. Introducción: La hernia discal lumbar es una afectación cada vez más frecuente en adultos, causa dolor intenso y limitaciones físicas a quienes lo padezcan por ello su diagnóstico precoz es muy importante para poder contrarrestar los síntomas.
Reporte de caso: Paciente de sexo masculino de 67 años de edad, conocido hipertenso, en tratamiento regular con Losartán 50mg/día. Ingresa al servicio de urgencias con un cuadro de 1 semana de evolución de dolor en región lumbar intenso que irradia al miembro inferior. El examen físico se pudo constatar cuadros crónicos de dolor lumbar, gracias a la RMC se pudo diagnosticar Hernia discal lumbar.
Conclusión: Las hernias lumbares son patologías muy comunes que afecta principalmente a al sexo masculino entre los 50 y 60 años, por esta razón consideramos importante resaltar este caso considerando también sus síntomas y las limitaciones que pueden provocar.
