Resumen
Flexibility, conceptualized by the maximum amplitude of voluntary movement, is characteristic of great importance both in search of better sports performance and for everyday tasks. In sports flexibility is required in karate, a martial arts more practiced in the world, due to the requirement of large ranges of motion. This study objetivaanalisar the flexibility levels of karate practitioners. Therefore made to analyze the flexibility of practitioners of Karate-do Shubu style, through five flexitest exercises (hip extension, hip flexion, trunk flexion, knee flexion and hip abduction), each score evaluated in 5 levels (0, 4, 8, 12 and 16). Data were treated with use of Anova oneway. The study revealed that flexibility did not differ significantly between groups (F = 2.536; p = 0.098), demonstrating that the level of flexibility, the study group is independent of years of practice to which they were subjected, although the average figures show that the level of flexibility suffered the largest increase depending on years of practice. Recommend to other studies with larger populations.
