Resumen
Paulo Freire was and still is an important Brazilian intellectual, among the most read in the world, who spoke up for people's liberation before mechanisms imposed to promote any kind of oppression. From this perspective, one of the main concepts of Freire's work, which is capable of enhancing the liberation, is the dialogue. Dialogue is preceded by language. Thus, the objective of this study is to comprehend how does Paulo Freire conceives language in his theory about dialogical education. For this purpose, we contextualize life and work of the educator in question, as well as we highlight linguistic studies with emphasis in Bakhtin's conceptions. In this interval, we compare and describe different significations given to language, in order to identify their role and organizational character in society; we analyze how the concept of language appears in Paulo Freire's work Pedagogy of the Oppressed and which are his approaches of linguistic base. This is a bibliographical research, of qualitative character. It could be perceived in the course of this study a historical change in the tendency of language that overpasses, in its characterological amplitude, from the grammatical perspective to the social and ideological conception, according to the observed in Saussure, Bakhtin and Freire. In Pedagogy of the Oppressed, language is built as path between thought and reality, materialized in the dialogue, which gives, in its turn, place to the true word. It is expected that this study can contribute to the progress of college degrees in Letters and in Pedagogy, as well as meeting the interest of undergraduates and professional of such areas that focus on both language studies and education and their pedagogical practices.
