Resumen
The search for the production of construction materials of low environmental impact and reduced costs, associated with industrial waste reuse, is a challenge to researchers. This project addresses industrial by-products reuse such as: casting sand, blast furnace slag and phosphogypsum in order to produce soil-cement blocks. The blast furnace slag and the phosphogypsum are used in the composition of the super sulphated cement (SSC), an alternative that may eliminate the use of clinker, which is the main cause of greenhouse gases. The soil – cement provides countless interesting applications, one of these is its use in the composition of masonry sealing blocks for construction, since traditional ceramic blocks require burning, which increases energy spendings and pollution. Therefore, the use of soil-cement blocks would dispense the need for this process, as it makes use of cold stabilization. However, the results showed that, for the dosages used, the SSC did not present satisfactory performance when applied in soil-cement blocks, since it demonstrated very low resistance to compression, besides not meeting normative criteria of absorption and durability. The goal of this project was to study the performance of SSC and casting sand as materials for soil correction, when applied in the composition of soil-cement blocks, analyzing their viability regarding their resistance to compression, water absorption and durability. Their behavior was compared to the Portland cement composed with pozolana ( CP II – Z 32), blocks were molded and subjected to the testings prescribed by brazilian norms.
