Resumen
The recorded music industry underwent several transformations during its history caused by sequential introduction of new media in which the recorded music was commercialized and distributed. At the end of the 90's, with the advent of computing and the internet, the recorded music was dematerialized and started to be marketed and distributed through networks and digital devices. Such changes in the recorded music industry production and value chain caused a drop in its revenues, mainly due to piracy. Now the scenario begins to change with the arrival of music services via streaming. Users are starting to pay againto listen to the recorded music through these services connected to smartphones and mobile networks. In this paper the Spotify, Deezer and YouTube streaming services are studied and compared. Also the current results and future trends for the recorded music industry are presented.
