Resumen
The CrossFit® is a modality that is growing more and more in relation to the number of fans, despite these numbers, there are still few studies on the modality. Based on this, the objective of the present study was to verify the profile of the CrossFit® practitioners from the city of Curitiba-PR. It is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design carried out in 2019. The profile of the users was investigated through the use of questionnaires: sociodemographic information, health, physical activity practice, social support and self-efficacy. Currently the city of Curitiba has 30 boxes accredited with the CrossFit® brand, of which, 10 boxes were randomly drawn to participate in the research. CrossFit® practitioners received the questionnaire online via Google’s forms system, which allows data to be tabulated shortly after completion. A total of 10 boxes and 202 practitioners (45% women) participated in the study, with the highest proportion of young people between 25 and 30 years old (24.3%), with normal weight (51%), with high schooling (80.7%) and high socioeconomic level (54.5%). Practitioners of CrossFit® with 2 years or more of practice within the modality (37.1%), five times a week (29.7%) and 76.2% practiced another sport before CrossFit®. With a weekly average of 471 minutes of physical activity. With an excellent perception of health (92%), high self-efficacy for physical activity (55.4%), but with low perception of support received from friends (51.5%) and family (60.4%), for the practice of physical activity. To a large extent, CrossFit® practitioners from the city of Curitiba are young, middle and upper classes, have high levels of education and are single, separated or widowed. They practiced CrossFit® for more than two years, started with influence from friends and social media, frequently five times a week and most practiced some sport before CrossFit®. Men classified as overweight; women classified as normal weight. They triplicate the recommendation for physical activity, have a good / excellent / excellent health perception, go to the doctor at least twice a year, do not have nutritional monitoring, use dietary supplements and do not use anabolic steroids. He did not observe any association between self-efficacy, social support of family and friends with physical activity. More studies are needed since the profile can be changed from region to region.
