Resumen
The analysis of railway accidents is essential for the determination of their causes, which makes it possible to reduce their occurrences and minimize their impacts. In this context, the present work carried out a study in a section considered critical of the railway network of Ferroeste. In order to reach the main objective, specific objectives were defined as the recognition of the section studied, the identification of the main causes that lead to accidents in the stretch, the description of these causes and the proposal of solutions to the problems identified. In order to carry out this research, it was decided to use the Case Study as a more appropriate methodological approach, since this research seeks to investigate a real phenomenon in order to understand the event, to develop hypotheses of the reasons for its occurrence and to propose solutions for problem solving. Thus, the data collection involved a visit to the section studied and the collection of documents and information regarding the same and the accidents that occur in the place. At the end of this stage, based on all the data collected, the information was cross-checked and the main problems of the section were related to the fall in barriers and relative irregularities with the maintenance of the Permanent Via. One of the causes of landslides in the stretch is the erroneous identification of the slope material in geotechnical survey for the implantation of the railroad. Another point refers to the poor state of conservation of the Permanent Way, where problems such as uneven road, damaged sleepers and weatherproof armor and malfunctioning of elements of the drainage system were observed. As a proposal to solve these problems, it is suggested to carry out new studies by means of direct and indirect drilling for the most appropriate choice of containment works, capable of solving the problems of sliding found and the implantation of a railway contour for the which would enable the railroad to function while its maintenance is being carried out. It is also recommended, a greater periodicity of maintenance in the railway line.
