Resumen
The competition between airline companies has been increasingly intense in the search for punctuality, availability and, of course, converting all of this into profits to generate value to shareholders. This work was developed in an airline and served as a scientific basis for discussion of improvement in the autopilot system of an aircraft fleet with the supplier and manufacturer of the equipment. It studies the reliability of the servomotor in order to prove with facts and data if the implemented improvement had a satisfactory result. The problem presented here and to be studied is how to use the best practices of Reliability Engineering to determine the estimated reliability of the new servomotor, with only right-hand data (non-failed units) available. The problem was solved using the Weibull distribution and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). The major motivation to focus on this specific problem was to contribute to the company by minimizing new non-scheduled downtime events, converging to improvements in operational KPIs.
