Resumen
In the IEEE 802.11ac standard for local wireless networks, the medium access paradigm employs the best effort to get the widest available channel. However, recent researches show that this paradigm requires higher signal to noise ratio to succeed. To surpass this problem an alternative protocol known as PBP-DCF was proposed in the literature. Instead of accessing a wider channel at once, the PBP-DCF proofs analytically that multiple narrow width transmissions can outperform a single wide one in ideal channels. In this work a ns-3 script is implemented to simulate the PBP-DCF behavior and compare under a noisy environment how both protocols perform. The results show that the PBP-DCF can outperform the IEEE 802.11 CSMA/CA saturation throughput even in noisy scenarios.
