Resumen
The objective of the work was to evaluate the quality of the water from a spring used as a source of supply (spring), which is located within a plot of land called “Sítio Santa Luzia” of gleba Nº 13, Mourão colony of the rural community of São Benedito , from the municipality of Campo Mourão (PR). To check the water quality, it was necessary to analyze parameters such as temperature, color, turbidity, pH, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, total, fixed and volatile solids, dissolved solids, nitrate, total coliforms, thermotolerant coliforms (E. coli), alkalinity and phosphorus. Two collections were carried out to carry out parameter analyzes, one in the dry period in April 2020 and one in the rainy period in May 2020, making it possible to compare the levels of the parameters Impacts with the results found. with those determined by Consolidation Ordinance Nº. 5/2017 of the Ministry of Health, which in turn determines the potability levels of water for human consumption and the comparison with other authors for the parameters that are not provided for in the legislation. The conditions made it possible to gain that the water from the source under study is needed for human consumption under the conditions present at the time, in which the presence of thermotolerant coliforms (E. coli) stands out, indicating faecal contamination of the water. This problem can be solved with corrective and preventive actions to improve water quality. In this study, two options were chosen for the implantation of models for the protection of water sources, which are low¬cost and very effective, these are the caxambu model and the model that uses soilcement to protect springs. Together with a disinfection system, in which case the methodology for solar water disinfection (SODIS) was determined, whose function is to make the presence of bacteria in the water inactive. It was concluded, then, that actions to recover and preserve the source in question are extremely important to maintain the water quality standard and ensure that the people who use that source consume water.
