Abstract
The research in question is intended to deal with the early history of special education in Brazil, as well as, issues and questions on social inclusion of individuals with special educational needs. As regards the issues of special education in Brazil, Senator Flávio Arns was the engine of development and encouraged the creation of inclusive spaces. Get introduced to statistics relating to the inclusion of special students on regular school education network La Salette, located in the city of Nova Londrina, the past five years; comment on teaching technique adopted by the educational institution, aiming to understand the cognitive development of the students with special educational needs; the evaluation on the academic development and stages of the planning of the classroom. Questions and analyses will emerge in the course of this study, related to the issue of accessibility of individuals with special educational needs; the difficulty encountered in everyday life; the problem of adapting curriculum, evaluation of learning and inclusion in the regular school network. Final thoughts: education is a process of building the critical conscience; notice the special educational needs of the students; continuous review of teaching and learning; development of the potential of special pupils without distinction and refer them for inclusion in regular education.
