Multilayer flexible packages are usually adhesive laminates that contain BOPET external film and blown polyethylene film as a sealant over the inner surface. This combination is important and well consolidated due to its high integrity, functionality, and tightness within the application. Contemporary issues involving sustainability requirements are factors that question this type of structure, as certain organizations or regulatory foundations and sustainable certifiers prescribe a monomaterial structure, without BOPET in the product design. Mechanical tests were conducted, performing comparative studies between BOPET, three BOPP options and two PEMDO options. The properties measured in this study were its modulus secant through ASTM D882 and thermal resistance through an internal standard developed within a flexible packaging industry. Test results showed that the materials have properties that may come to be widespread in applications with less critical mechanical requirements. Machinability tests for each material are required.
