Resumen
The term absenteeism is a Latin word. Its meaning is related to “being outside, away or absent”. Briefly, absenteeism represents the absence of the employee in the work environment, that is, relates to the amount of lost hours of work, being due to absences, exits or delays. In this way, absenteeism is one of the most relevant factors for organizations and is one of the main indicators for measuring the results of a work team. The objective of this monograph is to identify the main causes of absenteeism in different segments of the labor market, all located in the city of Curitiba, state of Paraná. To assist the study, a questionnaire was applied with a total of 26 questions related to the possible causes that caused absenteeism and the satisfaction of these people in relation to the work environment. The sample of this research is conditioned to the total of 502 answers. The questionnaire was hosted through the Google Forms tool and later divulged in social networks, from 09/28/2018 to 07/10/2018, and the filter was defined by workers in the city of Curitiba-Pr. According to the results obtained and with the research carried out, it is observed that the largest number of responses was female, with an age group between 31 and 40 years old, with an incomplete upper level. Most respondents work in large telecommunication companies, in an operational position, earn from 1 to 3 minimum wages, most of whom have 3 to 5 years of company. Intangible factors that are related to job satisfaction, people management and authoritarian leadership were cited in the responses, bringing us a reflection that such matters are of paramount importance in approaching absenteeism. Tangible factors were also cited in the research responses, with health problems being one of the main reasons for absences in the workplace. Finally, when analyzing absenteeism in a broad atmosphere like the city of Curitiba-Pr, it brings us to the conviction that the subject has full conditions to be further explored. However, the intention and results of the present study were aimed at contributing to the management of absenteeism in all market segments in the state capital. The results may serve mainly as a basis for managerial and diagnostic actions, serving as a basis for the preparation of further studies on future absenteeism.
